Protect Your Solar Panels from Pigeons in Wakefield
Pigeons nesting beneath solar panels can quickly create a build-up of nesting material, feathers, droppings and other debris. If birds have started using the space beneath your panels, professional bird proofing solar panel systems can prevent access and stop pigeons from continuing to nest in the same area.
Our solar panel bird-proofing system is designed specifically for installation around solar arrays. Purpose-made bird mesh is fitted around the outside edge of the panels and secured directly to the solar panel frames using specialist solar-fixing clips. This installation method does not require drilling into the solar panels or roof tiles.
Professional Bird Proofing for Solar Panels
We use PVC-coated, weather-resistant metal mesh which is measured and cut on-site to suit the size, shape and layout of each individual solar panel installation. The mesh creates a secure barrier around the panels, closing the gaps pigeons use to gain access underneath while still allowing appropriate airflow and drainage around the solar system.
Getting the installation right is important. Solar panel frames are manufactured in a range of sizes, which is why we carry UV-rated fixing clips suitable for 45mm, 40mm, 35mm and 30mm frames.
Using the correct clips and fitting the mesh properly around the complete solar array helps prevent gaps being left at the edges. Even relatively small gaps can give pigeons an opportunity to get back underneath the panels.
Pigeon Nesting Under Solar Panels
Bird proofing is generally best carried out before pigeons establish a nesting site, but many homeowners in Wakefield contact us after birds have already moved underneath their solar panels.
Where removal is legally permitted, we can remove nesting material and deal with contamination beneath the panels before the bird-proofing system is installed. We can also clean gutters affected by pigeon droppings, nesting material and accumulated debris.
Keeping the gutters clear is particularly important where birds have been nesting beneath the solar panels, as nesting debris and contamination can interfere with normal water flow and drainage from the roof.

Experienced Solar Panel Bird Proofing Specialists
Solar Pigeon Proofing Service is a solar-first business with more than 10 years of industry experience.
Our experience covers solar panels and panel frames, roof access, solar wiring, roof tiles and gutter lines. This means we understand the care required when working around an existing solar installation and why bird proofing solar panels needs to be carried out correctly.
Rather than approaching the job as a general pest-control service, we specialise specifically in solar panel pigeon-proofing and understand the different considerations involved when working around a solar PV system.
A Solar Pigeon Proofing Service to Suit Your Property
Not every property requires exactly the same work. The condition of the area beneath the panels, the amount of nesting material present and the layout of the solar array can all affect what is required.
For some Wakefield properties, a professional bird-mesh installation may be all that is needed. Other installations may require additional work, such as:
- Removal of nesting material where legally permitted
- Removal of dead pigeons where legally permitted and safe to do so
- Cleaning beneath the solar panels
- Solar panel cleaning
- Clearing solar-side gutters affected by nesting debris and pigeon droppings
- Installation of the complete solar panel bird-proofing system
We can assess what is required and provide a quotation based on the individual property rather than applying the same solution to every solar installation.

5 stars via google reviews
I contacted Solar Pigeon Proofing Service after pigeons started nesting under my solar panels making an absolute mess of the roof and gutters. From the first call for a free quote, the service was spot on.
They arrived on time, were very professional, and explained exactly what the problem was and how they’d fix it. The team installed steel mesh pigeon proofing with no drilling, which was a big relief as I didn’t want any damage to my panels or roof. They also removed all the droppings and cleaned the gutters as part of the job.
